As our new Hydrogeologist (Groundwater Modeler), you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. Success in this complex, multi-faceted role will depend on your demonstrated skills and depth of experience in mentorship, business development, and client service, as well as your technical mastery of the field.

Job Description

The successful applicant will join a team of senior hydrogeologists that assists mining companies worldwide in managing mine water issues, including mine de-watering, groundwater impact assessment, seepage control and mitigation. You will be responsible for contributing to hydrogeological projects in Canada and abroad (Australia, Central and South America) and will work closely with our team of groundwater modelers.

This is a challenging position and will require a well-rounded individual with a willingness to learn, improve technical abilities, and work independently. You will be required to travel to our domestic or international project sites. We offer the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, with time both in the office in Vancouver and working remotely.

Key Responsibilities


  • Collaborate on hydrogeological projects spanning Canada and global locations
  • Support hydrogeological investigations through planning, coordination, and quality assurance of field activities including drilling, monitoring installation, and hydraulic testing, with occasional field presence required
  • Review and interpret variety of groundwater-related data and information as part of conceptual modeling
  • Develop 3D hydrogeological conceptual models using designated software

  • The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location.

Qualifications:


  • MSc or PhD degree in Hydrogeology or a related discipline, ideally with an emphasis on numerical groundwater modeling
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling using numerical modelling finite difference and/or finite element software such as GMS, Groundwater Vistas and FEFLOW
  • Experience with developing 3D hydrogeological conceptual models using software packages such as surfer, Leapfrog and EVS
  • Experience with developing and managing codes and scripts in Python and FloPy, FORTRAN, or others
  • Proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset
  • Registered as a P.Geo or P.Eng with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
  • Valid driver’s license, and willingness to undertake short term travel in Canada and overseas
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills
  • Strong written skills desirable
