We're currently seeking a proactive Project Coordinator to support the delivery of diverse Open Space projects citywide, spanning parks, playgrounds, trails, and sports fields. What will you do?
Up to 1 permanent full-time, and 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months
Hours of Work:
Edmonton rests in the heart of Treaty Six territory in Alberta and the homelands of the Metis Nation.
What will you do?
- Collaborate closely with business partners throughout project lifecycles
- Support Project Managers/Program Managers in the construction of various City of Edmonton Open Space Projects
- Assist in preparing project documentation according to project management methodologies, policies, and processes
- Manage consulting agreements and construction contracts, ensuring smooth execution
- Coordinate contemplated changes, change orders, and track change management activities in collaboration with the project team
- Monitor project costs, identifying and reporting any variances to Program Managers or Project Managers
- Review and approve as-built drawings and operating & maintenance manuals prior to acceptance
- Oversee corrective actions related to warranty items
- Schedule and conduct completion reviews such as Construction Completion Certificates and Final Acceptance Certificates
- Ensure all project documentation, including sustainable policies, is thoroughly completed
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and committees
- Completion of a degree in a related field such as Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business or Project Management and a minimum of 2 years directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning, design and construction OR;
- Completion of a 2 year diploma in a related field such as Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, Business or Project Management and or Trade Certification and a minimum of 4 years directly related experience in project management for infrastructure planning, design and construction
- Familiarization with Open Spaces, utilities, park infrastructure and construction management
- Familiarization with relevant design guidelines and principles
- Project management experience on projects of varying scales and complexity
- Coursework/training in Project coordination/management would be an asset
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with the public and other stakeholders
- Strong project coordination skills including an understanding of project management methods and techniques (PMBOK best practices) is required
- Demonstrated knowledge in utilizing project management methodologies such as PMI
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to develop strong relationships and work in a collaborative, integrated manner
- Demonstrated experience working with multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of projects
- Proven planning, organizational and problem solving skills
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Experience collaborating with external consultants
- Working knowledge of relevant codes, legislation, regulations, policies and procedures (OH&S, Environmental, Builders Lien Act, etc.)

- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Must arrange own transportation to be reimbursed in accordance with the City of Edmonton policy which may require business auto insurance
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position. There may be a cost associated with this requirement
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance. See Hours of Work below for the current working hours arrangement
Up to 1 permanent full-time, and 1 temporary full-time position for up to 11 months
Hours of Work:
- Approximately November to April: 33.75 hours per week with Earned Days Off
- Approximately May to October: 40 hours per week. No Earned Days Off (EDO) for this period
- For 40 hours: $40.727 - $ 51.131 Hourly/ $85,037.98 - $106,761.53 Annually
- For 33.75 hours: $ 43.098 - 54.113 Hourly/ $75,927.90 - $95,333.58 Annually
