About the Job
Today we have an opportunity for you to join us as a Scalehouse Clerk at our Waste & Recycling Drop-off Depot in Niagara Falls, ON. As our new Scalehouse Clerk, you will inspect and weigh all incoming loads to the site to ensure that waste is acceptable and complies with the Environmental Compliance Approval government regulation.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Probe drivers, inspect waste, weigh and document each load entering the Site to ensure that waste does not violate Environmental Compliance Approval regulation and can be accepted into the landfill.
- Enter details of each load into a computerized waste information database to store all load information and produce various reports.
- Respond to customer inquiries or concerns and to provide information.
- Verify clearance information of specific non-hazardous loads as per regulatory directions to ensure that waste is acceptable.
- Receive payments and complete appropriate documentation to ensure records and cash receipts balance and prepare bank deposits.
- Produce and submit a variety of reports such as Tonnage Reports, Sales Data Reports and Cash Sales Reports, to provide current information to various departments.
- Opening or closing the Scalehouse to ensure systems such as computers, security etc, are operating correctly.
- Daily communications with operators and Site Supervisor.
- Debit and credit as options for payment and record keeping.
- Providing a variety of job skills and duties to support operations when needed.
Here’s What You Need
- At least a year’s experience in a customer service role.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a variety of different settings.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent customer service including courtesy, tact and diplomacy are required when dealing with colleagues and customers in every day working relationships.
- Basic record keeping skills to ensure accurate records of cash receipts are kept.
- Have a valid G driver's license.
