Nature And Scope
Reporting to the NWSCC Operations Supervisor, the Electronics Maintenance Technician (EMT) Trainer / Radar Life Cycle Material Manager (LCMM) is primarily responsible for providing training on the two NWS Radar systems and the Ground Air Ground (GAG) radios along with technical support for various systems within. As a secondary role, LCMM functions related to the Radar and GAG systems is required.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation and maintenance of NWS systems, including but not limited to AN/FPS-124 Radar / AN/FPS-117 Radar systems, GAG radio systems and router-based IP networks.
- Provides technical support to Northern Electronics Maintenance Technicians, NWSCC Crew Technicians and LCMM/Engineers.
- Develops course training standards according to SOW requirements and updates training within
- Reviews and implements minor modifications that apply to the FPS-117 that are provided from the Systems Program Office. (SPO)
- Generates an annual trend analysis report and present findings to Nasittuq management and the North Warning System Office (Real Property Operations North) technical authority team.
- Ensures that spares are authorized in sufficient quantities and strategically located to minimize the duration of outages.
- Generates unsatisfactory condition reports, root causes analysis reports, and business case documents to initiate system changes and sustainment initiatives, including recommended actions and the associated budgetary estimates.
- Maintains a preventive maintenance inspection program for assigned systems and equipment.
- Travels to NWS sites to perform equipment inspections, failure analysis, configuration audits and minor mod implementations.
EDUCATION:
- Completion of a postsecondary program in an electronics field or CF military equivalent.
- A valid class ‘G’ driver’s license, or provincial/territorial equivalent.
- Must already hold a Level II (Secret) Clearance or be eligible to obtain one.
- FPS-124 / FPS-117 / GAG trained or equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of experience on the job training working with radar/GAG systems.
- Strong knowledge of Radar/GAG systems, IP network systems and an ability to read and interpret related drawings and manuals.
- Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuits.
