Regional Fertility Program (RFP) is hiring a full-time and permanent Pharmacy Assistant for our Calgary clinic.
Position Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacy's technical operations and the quality of patient care. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will ensure that medication distribution is carried out safely, efficiently, and with the utmost respect for patient confidentiality.
This position is essential to maintaining the pharmacy's daily operations and directly contributes to patient well-being by ensuring accuracy, timely service, and compassionate communication at every point of contact.

Position Summary
The Pharmacy Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the pharmacy's technical operations and the quality of patient care. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, you will ensure that medication distribution is carried out safely, efficiently, and with the utmost respect for patient confidentiality.
This position is essential to maintaining the pharmacy's daily operations and directly contributes to patient well-being by ensuring accuracy, timely service, and compassionate communication at every point of contact.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform drug distribution tasks under pharmacist supervision, following ACP guidelines.
- Label, package, and prepare prescriptions and related materials accurately.
- Manage prescription deliveries, storage, and patient pickups, maintaining confidentiality and safety standards.
- Handle ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and pharmacy supplies, ensuring proper inventory control.
- Enter and update patient demographics and prescriptions using various software systems (e.g., Simplicity Plus, HealthQuest EMR, AB Netcare).
- Assist with clerical tasks such as answering phones, transferring prescriptions, filing, and balancing credit transactions.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, staff, and external partners, demonstrating empathy, respect, and confidentiality.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a recognized pharmacy assistant training program is an asset.
- Practicum training in a licensed pharmacy
- Previous experience in a hospital or community pharmacy environment is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a dynamic environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professionalism in patient interactions and a commitment to excellent service.
- Ability to work independently while recognizing situations requiring pharmacist involvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and pharmacy-related software (e.g., Simplicity Plus).
- Familiarity with sterile technique is an asset.
