Summary of Duties
The RPN is responsible for initiation, monitoring and discontinuation of hemodialysis treatments of in-centre patients. As a member of the inter-professional team providing person-centered care, the RPN will complete patient assessments, health teaching & family counselling, documentation, set-up/monitoring & trouble shooting of hemodialysis machines and respond to rapid changes in the patient’s hemodynamic status within the scope of practice for a hemodialysis RPN in partnership with the RNs. The RPN will play an active role in the unit on quality improvement/research project teams.

Qualifications/Skills
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current B.C.L.S. Certificate required
- 1 year current hemodialysis experience preferred
- 2 year acute care experience preferred
- 1 year Gambro Artis hemodialysis machine use preferred
- Post-graduate course in Nephrology or willingness to complete the advanced training and education within 1 year of being hired
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong team building and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent patient assessment skills
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Commitment to person-centred care concepts principles along with demonstrated ability to work as a member of an inter-professional team
