We are actively seeking an experienced Robot Field Service Technician will provide FANUC Canada customers with onsite repair, troubleshooting, programming or maintenance services for FANUC robots and related system peripheral equipment. The Technician will work at the FANUC Mississauga location to coordinate activities and provide hotline phone support in between scheduled service calls and must be able to travel to a customer site at a moment’s notice and remain onsite for the duration of the time required to perform the troubleshooting and repair functions. The assignments may involve long hours, nights, weekends, and holiday work. This position requires complying with FANUC Canada customer schedules, work rules, and conduct standards.
This position will report to the Supervisor - Service and Installation in the Canada Service group.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain FANUC Robots and controllers, electrical control devices, and peripheral equipment
- Provide phone and email support to FANUC customers and employees to resolve robot and peripheral equipment related operational problems and coordinate spare part deliveries on an as needed basis
- Communicate issues and activities to all individuals and groups within FANUC as required to help facilitate effective communication
- Maintain a service tool kit and documentation to facilitate rapid customer response
- Coordinate responsibilities, activities, and schedule with Service Supervisor/Manager to ensure customer satisfaction, proper billing, and collection
- On a rotating basis, respond to a FANUC mobile phone after hours and weekends depending on customer needs and supporting all shifts. In addition, to provide the repair or support services required by the customer after hours and weekends to support the customer
- Travel to customer sites as required (90%)
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
- College Advanced Diploma or equivalent in Robotics, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or relevant experience.
- Minimum of ten years of experience working in robotics, automation, or manufacturing environment.
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to drive throughout the organization’s service area for business as required.
- Must be able to travel 90% and drive throughout the FANUC Canada service area and on occasion in the US for customers as required; air travel as needed.
- Experience in robot assembly, disassembly, within an OEM or Tier 1 automotive/manufacturing.
- Possess a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, ensuring seamless integration and rapid response to system failures or rework needs.
- Proficient in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, with a deep understanding of robotic integration, programming, and maintenance.
- Strong expertise in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and optimizing robotic systems to ensure peak performance and efficiency.
- Skilled in interpretating technical schematics electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic prints and related technical documentation, performing precision adjustments, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Ability to do work in various stressful and demanding environments with high work schedule loads and able to work overtime on a sometimes-unscheduled basis.
- Ability to coordinate a flexible schedule, accommodate short-notice schedule changes.
- Customer-focused with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently at customer sites with little direct supervision.
- Knowledge of FANUC robots, controllers, and peripheral equipment preferred.
- Experience with FANUC application software and programming preferred.
- Knowledge of older platforms or FANUC CNC controls is preferred.
