We are currently searching for a Senior Route Supervisor , who will support our operations team while developing the leadership capabilities required to transition into an operations Manager role. This position plays a key role in service optimization, team performance, and operational improvement across multiple functional areas including landfill, scale house, and fleet.

We are currently searching for a Senior Route Supervisor , who will support our operations team while developing the leadership capabilities required to transition into an operations Manager role. This position plays a key role in service optimization, team performance, and operational improvement across multiple functional areas including landfill, scale house, and fleet.
What will you do?
- Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures as required.
- Continuously evaluate services, policies, procedures, and training requirements to ensure optimum customer service is provided.
- Perform route cost analysis, seek route improvements, enhance customer service levels, identify cost-saving measures, and submit recommendations to management with supporting justifications for capital expenditure (CAPEX) where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; assess resource needs; obtain required approvals; and implement improvements.
- Prepare analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and review work plans for solid and liquid waste operations, landfill maintenance, scale house activities, and landfill gas-to-electricity services.
- Assign work activities and projects; monitor workflow and project completion; review and evaluate outcomes; and collaborate with staff to resolve issues.
- Support the development and management of annual operating budgets for the scale house and landfill; forecast staffing, equipment, and material needs; monitor and approve expenditures; and make budgetary adjustments as needed.
- Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs affecting landfill and transfer facility operations; recommend and administer related policies and procedures.
- Oversee work performed by private contractors, particularly those engaged in the operation and maintenance of organic and liquid waste recovery and recycling.
- Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay up to date on trends and innovations in solid waste and organic recovery and recycling operations.
- Respond to and resolve escalated customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and urgency.
- Assist with conducting quarterly performance reviews for operational staff, drivers, and loaders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What will you bring?
- A degree in business, environmental science, safety, HR, or a related field — equivalent experience will also be considered.
- This is an in-training role, and relevant hands-on experience can substitute for formal education.
- A Class 3 BC Driver’s License (or ability to obtain within 3 months of starting).
- Familiarity with operations, waste and recycling practices, team supervision, and budgeting.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a focus on safety, service, and results.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and operational or reporting systems.
- The ability to work independently, handle confidential matters, and communicate clearly with staff and partners.
- Use of motor coordination with fine dexterity (e.g., typing, equipment handling) most of the day
- Occasional lifting of objects over 30 pounds
- Rare exposure to occupational risks (e.g., cuts, chemicals)
- Occasional exposure to weather, noise, dirt, or odors
- Normal work locations include office settings, truck cabs, and maintenance shops
