Purpose

As a Tailings Lead, you will be responsible for performing and coordinating activities related to tailings operations and maintenance, as well as implementing effective systems, methods, and scheduling to meet tailings placement targets. You will work with operations, maintenance, contractors and technical teams in the safe management of tailings. In this role you will also support the Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer in activities related to tailings management

Responsibilities

  • Perform beaching of tailings by preparing and moving active spigots in alignment with Tailings Management Plan
  • Coordinate end spill moves and maintenance activities
  • Supervise contractor work related to tailings operations
  • Inspect turret and booster pump systems regularly
  • Provide information on required materials for ordering
  • Manage the tailings laydown area and parts
  • Perform and/or coordinate maintenance to seep pumpback equipment
  • Perform and/or coordinate maintenance to instrumentation equipment
  • Inspect and clean tailings floc skid at mill when in operation
  • Coordinate dust mitigation activities
  • Coordinate maintenance of sludge cell
  • Perform surveillance inspection during shift
  • Assist with tailings upset or emergency situations
  • Coach inspectors on tailings inspections and operations
  • Coordinate with Mill Operations, Construction activities, Effluent Treatment Plan operations

Training and Education

  • Minimum high school education
  • Expertise in production and/or maintenance strategies for large-scale, continuous operating mineral processing plants and/or tailings management facilities.
  • Experience in tailings operations, construction and management
  • People leader with at least five (5) years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
  • Valid “G” Driver’s license
