What will you do?

  • Visualizing Data: Develop maps, graphics, and visual tools using software like ArcGIS and Adobe to communicate complex information
  • Analyzing Networks: Conduct spatial analyses of mobility networks, exploring the relationship between land use, demographics, and transportation
  • Managing Data: Source, collect, and maintain datasets, transforming raw data into impactful charts, tables, and maps
  • Contributing to Projects: Apply datasets to various projects using tools like Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and other Google applications and participate in engagement activities
  • Implementing Strategies: Play a key role in implementing strategy actions and managing inquiries from the public and stakeholders
  • Collaborating Across Teams: Coordinate with internal teams and external partners, fostering collaboration on projects and initiatives
  • Supporting Planning: Conduct site visits, gather data, and prepare reports to support the development of transportation plans and policies
  • Improving Processes: Support unit administration, enhance efficiency, and create documentation to communicate unit achievements


Qualifications:

  • 2 year diploma in Urban or Regional Planning, Architecture, GIS Technology Diploma or a related field from a recognized institute of technology
  • 2 years of directly related planning experience in planning and design processes, transportation design, project management, public engagement process, urban design, land use planning and GIS


Skills required for success:

  • Understand the planning / engineering / zoning bylaw processes associated with constructing streets and pathways and development
  • Understand the policy development process
  • Knowledge of health promotion, urban design, and active transportation and how our mobility network influences each of these
  • Understand the challenges, constraints and opportunities associated with Edmonton's mobility network, particularly the active transportation network
  • Have a sense of current principles, trends, practices and standards around mobility networks and systems
  • Understand data collection and sorting techniques and approaches
  • Ability to design engaging presentations in Google Slides and present effectively
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proficient in Google Drive, Google Docs and Google Sheets, Google Slides and other Google applications; Intermediate to advanced proficiency in using a wide variety of mapping, spatial analysis and document design applications including, ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, COBS; understanding of Trimble Sketch-up, Photoshop are an asset
  • Lead and manage meetings, discussions and other events
  • Organize, plan and manage work and generally work independently
  • Develop working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Work Environment :

  • Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance

Salary Range: $37.001- $46.508 Hourly, $77,258.09 - $97,108.70 Annually
