Job Description:

NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER

Client Industry: Energy (Oil & Gas)

Location: 100% On-Site | Office is in Downtown Calgary, AB

Terms: 6 Month Contract (1x 6 Month extension available)

Start Date : ASAP

End Date: 6 Months from Start Date

Hours: Full Time (40 Hours / Week)

Project Details:

Client is seeking an additional person to help with Network Security tasks like programming switches and routers, etc. This person would be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure network infrastructure. This includes configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, ensuring network security policies are enforced, monitoring network traffic for threats, and collaborating with other IT teams to ensure a robust and secure environment.

Tech Stack:

  • Palo Alto – Firewalls
  • Cisco – Catalyst Switches and related Security Technologies (EXIS)
  • Field Networking – IoT experience and Citrix NetScaler
  • Security Protocols and VPN Knowledge

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong Understanding of Network Security Principles : This includes knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VPNs, and security protocols like SSL/TLS.
  • Deep Understanding of Palo Alto Firewalls : Proficiency in PAN-OS, Panorama, and other Palo Alto products and services.
  • Experience With Cisco Catalyst Switches : Familiarity with their configuration, troubleshooting, and role in network security.
  • Familiarity With Security Technologies : Knowledge of IDS/IPS, VPNs, and other security solutions.
  • Experience With Network Monitoring Tools : Proficiency in using tools like Panorama, SIEM systems, and network traffic analyzers.
  • Strong Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills : Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and identify root causes.
  • Excellent Communication and Collaboration Skills : Ability to work effectively with other IT teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to Document Technical Information : Ability to create and maintain clear and concise documentation, including network diagrams and change logs.
  • Desirable Certifications : CISSP, CCIE Security, CCNP Security, or equivalent.
  • Seniority : Mid Level to Senior Experience needed (5+ Years is the goal)
