Reporting to the Manager - Food Safety and Quality Assurance. The Analyst oversees the regional food processing centers and is responsible for the development, recommendation, implementation, and execution of a broad range of food safety protocols, ensuring that they meet all relevant regulatory requirements and support the attainment of primary business objectives, such as increased sales, market share and profit, responsible for ensuring compliance with the food safety programs through audits, inspection, training, and other measuring.

T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 33 stores across the country: 14 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 11 in Ontario, and 1 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.

  • Assist the manager in the development, modification, implementation and execution of food safety and quality assurance programs (HACCP, GFSI, GMP etc.). Ensure that these are current, in place and implemented.
  • Responsible for the delivery of food safety certification and food safety training to the relevant employees as required.
  • Stay current on all legislation surrounding Food Safety issues in Canada, anticipate development that could or will affect food safety and recommend measures that address such developments.
  • Remains updated with legislations, customer requirements and SQF code by attending training or meetings, subscribing to relevant websites or notices from the regulatory information, or when communicated by customer or regulatory authorities.
  • Liaises with government inspection officials as appropriate to address regulatory change; provide input into the regulatory process whenever a significant change that may impact food safety or quality of the products manufactured.
  • Conduct food safety and quality assurance duties on the processing floor, complete QA project in a timely and professional manner. Contribute to continue improvement object.
  • Participate new product development and evaluation, Assist the preparation of product scope brief.
  • Organize, participate, and analyze sensory evaluation to examine the products quality, suggest continuous quality improvement idea base on the taste result.
  • Responsible for product and raw material label review, calculation nutrition facts, and creating accurate product label by using Genesis software.
  • Responsible for microbiological and chemical analysis, sampling, report interpretation and action need to be taken.
  • Responsible for vendor FSQA program review and approval.
  • Responsible for customer food safety and quality related complaint investigation and continue improvement plan and action.
  • Act as the recall and business continuity coordinator.
  • Assist the hold and release (non-conforming) program and testing programs.
  • Develops and maintains product specifications and formulations.
  • Report all incidents, accidents and near misses by filling out proper reports relating to all employees, contractors and visitors and company property.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time, such as FDA, USDA registration, exporter license application, US label development.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s).
  • Completed Post-Secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or other related disciplines.
  • Previous work experience in the food processing industry, preferably 3 or more years’ experience in food safety, quality assurance or other related areas.
  • Sound knowledge of both Federal and Provincial food regulatory requirements for the production and labelling of food production.
  • Must demonstrate sound ability to communicate (verbally and written) in English
  • Able to communicate in Chinese (Cantonese / Mandarin) is an asset.
  • Possess strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to make constructive recommendations.
  • Proven time management skills, detail oriented, works well under pressure.
  • Strong drive to deliver results to clients on a timely basis.
  • Able to efficiently make decisions and resolve problems.
  • Must be highly organized and flexible to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
  • Flexible to work on irregular working schedule including evenings, weekends and statutory holidays when needed.
  • Possess intermediate to advance skills in Microsoft applications.
