Consisting of four locations—the main processing facility located in Brooks, Alberta, where approximately 4,200 head of cattle are harvested and processed daily; the Head Office and a case ready plant, both based in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario, a case ready plant located in Belleville, Ontario. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals, ground beef, beef trimmings, beef by-products and hides which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized, multi-pack options, kebabs and much more. JBS Ontario in Belleville produces fresh meat and seafood products for leading retailers in Canada.

At JBS Canada, our people are our greatest asset. We are very proud to have a team of high achieving, engaged employees. We are currently seeking a Sanitation Supervisor to join our team at our JBS Ontario facility in Belleville, ON.

The Sanitation Supervisor directly supervises up to 15 – 20+ hourly employees in achieving high-quality cleaning and sanitization objectives regarding various equipment, surfaces and environments. Reviewing daily sanitation schedules, managing employee issues and ensuring compliance with all standards are key parts of the job. This position will provide secondary supervisory coverage between two divisions (seafood and fresh meat production areas).

NOTE: This position will be located in Belleville, ON & requires permanent midnight availability.

Responsibilities

  • Plans manpower requirements in accordance with sanitation requirements
  • Manages and ensures the Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) are followed
  • Manages and enforces Good Manufacturing Practices, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and committed to food safety
  • Provides teams with committed leadership on lean manufacturing principles and continuous process improvement techniques. Reinforces their commitment to continuous process improvement within the two areas
  • Trains and develops hourly staff on the operation and routine maintenance of pertinent equipment
  • Facilitates achievement of Company objectives in terms of quality, targets and customer service targets
  • Tracks and monitors hourly staff attendance. Administers discipline in line with Company’s discipline policy including taking disciplinary statements
  • Conduct accident investigations within the sanitation areas. Provides a safe working environment for all employees
  • Enforces compliance with Company Policies, and all relevant provincial legislation requirements
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, including WHMIS (proficient in the safe use of cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and sanitizers), Labour Relations, Human Rights, workplace safety, and WSIB.
  • A strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Community college/university education or equivalent combination of related experience and education.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, train, and manage a teams of sanitation workers
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office applications, particularly Word and Excel
  • Possess excellent communications, team leadership and employee engagement skills
  • Skills in coaching, providing feedback, and addressing performance issues with team members
  • Familiarization with food safety and productivity requirements of the meat/food processing industry.
  • Meticulous approach to tasks to ensure high-quality cleaning and sanitization and accurate record-keeping
  • Management/supervisory experience
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills to develop and manage master sanitation schedules, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources efficiently
