We are currently seeking to recruit a highly motivated and capable individual to work as part of our HR team, within in Dartmouth, NS office location. As part of our team, you will support and partner with leaders and teams within our business who work on cutting edge technologies to deliver best in class results.
The HR Generalist will report to the Director, Human Resources and will work as part of the Human Resources Team to provide support and comprehensive HR support across the business, ensuring HR core admin & transactional processes are delivered effectively and in a timely manner.
The job holder will be expected to be an excellent team player, who is able to collaborate with the broader UM team on projects and programs, while also being able to work independently on specific tasks when required Nationality Requirements Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers Job Description Key Responsibilities

- Generate reports as requested from myHR and/or IFS including preparation of monthly reports & reports as needed, tracking and reporting through myHR as well as within HR files, utilizes information from myHR to do deep dive analysis
- Manage and process relevant to IFS (ERP) and myHR (Wokday) inbox tasks and assist managers and employees with self-service actions in myHR
- Administers and oversees benefits and health and wellness programs
- Long Service Award program management/facilitation. Maintain the program on an annual basis and assist with the logistics of the program on an ongoing monthly basis, as necessary
- Assists Director HR with labour management and labour relations tasks as necessary
- Local policy review and updating - as deemed relevant and applicable by Director, HR and Business Leads
- Maintain and conduct HR onboarding processes and relevant documents
- Maintain office environment in a tidy manner, in compliance with HSE & 5s requirements
- Run monthly attendance reports
- myHR auditing and data checks – run data checks on a routine basis to ensure system information is accurate (i.e. reporting lines, position titles, change requests are processed accurately, etc.)
- Support the HR team with global and internal processes, as required (i.e. performance review processes, annual salary review, objective setting, etc.)
- Conduct required leaver actions, including leaver meetings and exit interview completion and data input – reporting on exit interview data as required
- Drafting of training agreements and related correspondence
- Project work as requested by Director, HR
- Leave of Absence/Maternity/Paternity processing as applicable - Updating & maintenance of Leave Tracker
- STD/LTD management and record keeping as applicable – Updating & maintenance of Leave Tracker
- Assist with recruitment process
- Assist with the Co-op recruitment process
- Handle general HR related enquiries (i.e., benefits questions, payroll questions, policy interpretation, etc.)
- Provide an effective HR partnering service to employees and managers taking a customer service approach
- Deliver employee relations support as directed by Director, HR
- Provide appropriate HR cover at the Dartmouth sites as necessary
- Other duties as required
- Minimum 2-4 years relevant HR experience; preferably in a manufacturing or technical environment
- Strong IT skills (training will be provided on all our HR systems)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience working in a unionized environment preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to process large amounts of information quickly
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks
- CPHR or working towards is an asset but not required
- Have the ability to make connections and build relationships
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to prioritize changing deadlines and to manage daily tasks
- Good team working skills
- Confident when working under pressure
- Proactive approach
