What does a portfolio manager do as part of the team?

  • Manage portfolios incorporating multiple asset classes to effectively match liabilities while generating a competitive return.
  • Ensure that portfolios meet internal client objectives while respecting their constraints and risk appetite and tolerance.
  • Make various presentations for mandates under management, including presentations to clients and senior management (Board of Directors and Investment Committee).
  • Participate in the development, implementation and updating of investment strategies and policies
  • Monitor economic and financial trends and assess potential impacts on portfolios
  • Participate in the development of new products
  • Work closely with specialized asset class teams, as well as with various corporate departments (actuarial, accounting, tax, risk management, legal).
  • Contribute to strategic corporate initiatives aimed at supporting the company's growth
  • Keep abreast of changes in the regulatory environment.

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, actuarial science, economics or related disciplines
  • CFA Charter or equivalent
  • Graduate degree an asset
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in financial markets
  • Knowledge of asset-liability management desirable
  • Experience in managing portfolios including derivatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Self-reliance, service mentality and drive to excel
  • Advanced knowledge of the English language, as the individual will be required to communicate orally and in writing with unilingual English internal and external partners across Canada on a daily basis via email, virtual meetings and the production of English-only content.
