We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Building Operator to support the day-to-day facility operations in the Hamilton area. This position is integral in maintaining GMP-compliant building systems and ensuring all facilities, including HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, safety, and operational systems, operate reliably and efficiently. The successful candidate will work closely with the Facilities Director and other stakeholders to uphold operational excellence in a highly regulated environment. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.

A technical diploma in mechanical, HVAC or a relevant technical stream combined with experience in facilities maintenance within a pharmaceutical, food plant, or similar GMP setting is required.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Facilities Director and other stakeholders to uphold operational excellence in a highly regulated environment. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to coordinate and prioritize tasks effectively.
General duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform daily walkthroughs to identify facility and equipment issues.
- Monitor and adjust HVAC and building automation systems (BAS) for optimal performance.
- Actively participate in stakeholders’ meetings and daily communication with the Facilities Director.
- Effectively document work activities and collaborate with functional departments for reviews and approvals.
- Conduct daily water testing and flushing procedures to ensure water quality and safety.
- Exhibit a mature and cooperative attitude to promote good communication and teamwork within the department, with other departments, and with contractors.
- Perform minor repairs (doors, locks, drywall, painting, hardware, etc.).
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies with a customer-first approach.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of HVAC, RO Water Treatment, steam boilers, pumps, valves, and air compressors.
- Troubleshoot and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Coordinate third-party contractors and oversee repair or maintenance activities.
- Supports and completes special projects (installation/evaluation of new and /or modified equipment, space remodeling, etc.).
- Support preventative maintenance programs using CMMS tools.
- Ensure all activities comply with GMP and SOP standards.
- Assist with documentation of maintenance logs, inspections, and compliance reports.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining clear and accurate records.
- Follow all applicable TSSA, ESA, Fire Code, and Building Code requirements.
- Ensure common areas, mechanical rooms, and service spaces are kept clean and organized.
- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to respond to after-hours facility emergencies.
- This is a full-time, on-site position, Monday to Friday during regular day shift hours.

Work Experience Requirements
- Experience in working in a manufacturing environment internal or external manufacturing.
- GMP knowledge as related to facility operation and maintenance.
- Previous experience working with CMMS and BAS systems.
- Knowledge of Ontario building, electrical, ESA, TSSA and fire codes.
- Excel working in a collaborative environment as a multidisciplinary team member.
- Willingness to take on new tasks and responsibilities as required.
- Support other team members in ensuring department activities with a strong focus on customer service.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with suppliers of equipment, software, and hardware, as well as the ability to read technical specifications and build drawings easily.

- Excellent time management skills, ability to shift priorities on an ad hoc basis, and flexibility with working hours.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to anticipate customers’ needs and to proactively implement solutions.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- All candidates must be able to pass a police reference check.
