The UX Design Director contributes to our overall experience strategy and is responsible for providing design and leadership skills that continue to advance our user experience maturity as we put the client at the centre of everything we do. This role, and their team, will be experts in understanding our clients, and will use a mix of creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking to turn those insights into great experiences that delight and engage.

The UX Design Director contributes to our overall experience strategy and is responsible for providing design and leadership skills that continue to advance our user experience maturity as we put the client at the centre of everything we do. This role, and their team, will be experts in understanding our clients, and will use a mix of creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking to turn those insights into great experiences that delight and engage.
How You Will Create Impact
- Create and maintain partnership with partners and stakeholders at all levels to educate, advocate, understand key business priorities/measures, build culture, and help define our digital experience vision.
- Oversee, and contribute to, UX and UI design activities, ensuring design quality, inclusivity, efficacy, scalability, skill development and support.
- Facilitate or support presentations, workshops, and review sessions of all sizes, from design team critiques to cross-functional ideation and design workshops.
- Learn about our customers through user insights, understanding their needs and behaviours and guiding the team to include research activities and usability testing in their work to create thoughtful and evidence-based recommendations.
- Lead with a mindset of coaching, community, and continual improvement, empowering the team to do the right work at the right time to create cohesive, high value experiences.
- Ensure effective integration of UX content with UX design.
- Support and foster growth and development of our designers and design practice into a thriving centre of excellence.
- Co-create and measure team workload and design processes.
- Help the team develop development goals and evaluate their plan to achieve them.
- Guide work volume and prioritization for the team, monitoring ongoing efficacy and creativity.
- Work collaboratively with team-mates and subject matter experts from multiple disciplines and specialty areas, building and maintaining relationships with team members, stakeholders, and executives.
- 7-9 years in UX/UI, product design, or relevant roles with leadership experience.
- Post-secondary education required, with preference for interaction design, HCI, or similar
- Expert level understanding of user-centred design.
- Expert experience with a range of UX tools such as Sketch, Figma, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.
- Strong, process-oriented design practice.
- Experience working with corporate branding guidelines and principles.
- Innovative mindset
- Established ability to work in and make UX decisions in agile environments.
- Working understanding of the criteria of accessible design.
- Established knowledge of UX research and usability testing.
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Detail-oriented work that requires a high degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
