Senior Advisor Counterparty Credit Risk

A career as a Counterparty Credit Risk Senior Advisor in the team of Global Counterparty Credit Risk Oversight, Capital Markets and Treasury Risk Management at National Bank is to be responsible for overseeing and monitoring counterparty credit risk for non-banking financial institutions. Your job
- Lead in-depth credit analysis of non-banking financial institutions (insurers, asset managers, hedge funds, CCPs), including quantitative and qualitative evaluations.
- Oversee ongoing monitoring of counterparty credit quality, risk limits, exposures and communicate changes and trends in material risk exposures, as well as potential threats.
- Contribute to setting and reviewing counterparty credit limits aligned with risk appetite and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with front office and legal teams to assess credit risks in structured transactions, derivatives, repos, and securities financing.
- Act as the lead for new product initiative for the Global Counterparty Credit Risk Oversight, identify the risks associated with new products and activities, and ensure that they are subject to adequate procedures and controls before being introduced or undertaken.
- Act as a representative of counterparty credit risk in various bodies, including meetings with regulators, auditors, and meetings of senior internal and external committees.
- Participate in or lead stress testing, wrong-way risk analysis, and scenario development.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to strategic risk initiatives.

This position is located in Montreal, and will report to the Senior Manager, Counterparty Credit Risk, Non-Banking Financial Institutions within the Capital Markets and Treasury Risk Management sector.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field and 7 years of relevant experience, OR master’s degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience
- A professional certification CFA/CPA/FRM, an asset
- Proven experience in credit risk analysis, particularly with non-bank financial institutions with a deep understanding of financial statements and institutional business models.
- Strong knowledge of capital markets, derivatives, and structured products.
- Knowledge of Bloomberg and proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Quicksight, Excel VBA, Python)
- Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth understanding of counterparty credit risk, PFE quantification, exposure simulation models
- Experience interacting with regulators or credit rating agencies and being comfortable interacting with members of senior management.
- Solid grasp of AI/data analytics applications /automation/programming in credit risk management a plus.
