IT Security Manager:
($113, 698 - $133,762 Annually)
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, the IT Security Manager is responsible for operational IT Security and delivery of security related projects. This includes administrative and technical implementation and continuous improvement of solutions to maintain and enhance the overall security posture, cybersecurity incident responsiveness and enforcement of policies through the implementation and use of technologies, and to ensure the organization’s systems and data are secure. He/She/They establishes, implements and delivers communications and training initiatives to increase cybersecurity awareness to support the adoption of safe computing practices. The incumbent participates as a key member the security incident response team, conducts investigations and audits, performs information security risk assessments, and recommends improvements to mitigate risks. The position assesses new security technologies and emerging security threats and makes recommendations as appropriate to improve BC Housing’s IT security.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
The successful candidate will have the following:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, and/or Information Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Considerable experience in information technology, with sound experience in the information security field for a complex, multi-dimensional organization.
- Professional designation or accreditation in IT Security such as Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) or GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC).
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience acceptable to the Employer.
- Good knowledge of security controls including perimeter and web application firewalls, application security, intrusion detection/prevention systems, data loss prevention, anti-malware, encryption, and other industry-standard techniques and practices.
- Good technical knowledge of network, application, systems and cloud architectures.
- Good knowledge of TCP/IP and ability to use protocol analyzers.
- Good knowledge of security scanning and testing tools.
- Good knowledge and experience with technologies which enhance security and privacy (such as identity management, network security, and application security).
- Ability to analyze large volumes of log data systematically to identify trends and anomalies.
- Ability to conduct investigations and compliance audits, and develop and implement measures to maximize security and mitigate risks
- Ability to create and update technical and user manual documentation and provide training to staff, contractors and other third parties
- Ability to work effectively within a team made up of business users and technical analysts
- Ability to generate and articulate new ideas and adapt effectively to new technologies
- Highly self-motivated and directed, and ability to work effectively with minimal direction
- Ability to excel in working under pressure to meet deadlines and changing priorities
- Ability to exercise good judgment in dealing with matters of a confidential nature
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, decision-making, organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
