Agilus is recruiting for a Tax Manager in the public accounting sector in Chatham, Ontario.

A Day In The Life

  • Lead and contribute to the growth of the tax practice.
  • Drive business development and build relationships with both prospective and existing clients.
  • Identify new tax planning opportunities and communicate these to clients.
  • Manage and oversee tax planning engagements.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to staff members.
  • Stay up-to-date with Canadian tax legislation.
  • Develop and document internal processes to improve efficiency and manage risk.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and conduct research as needed.

Successful Candidates Will Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field.
  • CPA designation or equivalent is required; candidates in the final stages of obtaining their CPA designation will also be considered.
  • Completion of the CPA In-Depth Course or master’s in taxation is required for this role
  • Strong understanding of tax planning, tax compliance, and accounting principles.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public accounting with a focus on Canadian tax planning.
  • Availability to work on occasional Saturdays, as needed, based on workload demands.
  • Proficiency in CaseWare and TaxPrep is an asset. Experience with tax research tools such as AnswerConnect and TaxnetPro is highly preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex tax concepts to clients, team members, and stakeholders, both in writing and verbally, ensuring understanding at all levels.
