Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager – Community Mental Health and Supervisor – GAPPS, the Mental Health & Addictions Clinician 1 provides services to clients as part of the Homelessness and Addictions Treatment (HART) Hub. The HART hub is designed to provide comprehensive support and resources that address the root causes of homelessness and addiction. The Mental Health & Addictions Clinician will be responsible for providing addictions and mental health supports and services to individuals with complex mental health and substance use needs. Key responsibilities include effectively engaging and collaborating with clients in the community, providing education and brief interventions, and supporting clients with building connections to recovery and treatment services.

Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Minimum qualifications include undergraduate degree and registered member in good standing with applicable professional college (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, College of Nurses of Ontario)
- Specialized training and experience in addictions and mental health.
- Extensive experience supporting people with matters of significant substance use, mental illness, and securing social determinants of health.
Skills/Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of substance use.
- Demonstrated understanding of Northern and Indigenous approaches.
- Understand the importance of trauma informed practice through a cultural lens.
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and healthy boundaries.
- Demonstrated understanding of community resources, services, and programs for this client population.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
- This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
