This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) at Toronto Community Housing Corporation is a high-impact, analytical powerhouse, responsible for driving the financial success of TCHC’s housing programs and capital projects. This role is for a motivated professional looking to apply their financial expertise to influence the future of public housing in Toronto. You will conduct deep-dive financial analysis, lead audit and compliance efforts, and support multi-million-dollar capital investments with precision and insight.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, Asset Management, you will be a vital part of the finance team, helping shape the fiscal integrity and financial health of TCHC’s housing infrastructure.

What You’ll Do

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assists with and maintains robust financial models and forecasting tools to support strategic decision-making, asset management, and long-term capital planning in the building related asset programs.
  • Drive the annual budgeting process for Building Repairs Capital Program, ensuring budgets are aligned with strategic priorities and financial targets, meeting funder’s program obligations
  • Provide insightful financial forecasts, scenario analysis, and long-term projections to guide building asset management decisions and capital investments.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Finance Manager, Asset Management, to strengthen fiscal accountability through effective budgetary control, expenditure management, and capital project governance.

Financial Reporting And Analysis

  • Lead the preparation of detailed financial reports for capital projects and corporate asset management, providing timely, data-driven insights to senior leadership.
  • Support in depth reporting on capital projects with a focus to manage multiyear projects to support our need for repairs to maintain our aging housing stock
  • Lead cross functional teams in review and reconciliation of monthly/quarterly reporting for various programs under SOGR (State of good Repair) to internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform complex variance analysis, identifying financial trends, risks, and opportunities to optimize the financial performance of TCHC’s building assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze financial and building asset data, ensuring accurate and comprehensive financial and asset reporting to drive decision making.

Process Improvement And System Enhancement

  • Support cross functional team in developing Key Performance Indicators as required to effectively monitor and improve financial reporting on Capital projects and corporate asset management
  • Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, improving efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in financial reporting and budgeting.
  • Assist in the enhancement of financial systems and asset management tools that elevate the quality of financial and building asset data reporting/tracking to support sound decision-making.
  • Conduct assessments for capital repair and retrofit projects to ensure risks are properly identified, quantified, and proactively managed and mitigated

Cross-Functional Collaboration And Project Support

  • Provide financial expertise and strategic support to cross-functional teams, participate and influence the successful execution of key building capital projects and initiatives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Senior Finance Manager, Asset Management and FM project/program managers, providing real-time financial/building asset data insights pertaining to SOGR to enable effective decision-making and project execution.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (7 years would be an asset) in financial analysis, preferably within the public sector or asset management.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, budgeting, and audit support.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., Yardi, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with public sector finance and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
