Supporting the Layout Department, and the production as a whole, the Layout Artist will support with the development of the environment for the production.
Reporting to: Layout Supervisor
Purpose: Why you’re here at Brown Bag Films
To produce Layout Drawings for a 2D animated production, drawn in the correct perspective, scale and style.
Delivery: What you produce
Completed layout drawings for the production, drawn and layered correctly, ready for Background Paint Department.
Measurements: How we measure it
Meets creative requirements, within stylistic guidelines and schedule
Layout Supervisor and Art Director approvals
Creating layout drawings, making sure that the drawings stay on style of the production.
Working closely with Layout Supervisor to find the best solutions for technical challenges.
Creating layouts in proper form, perspective and scale. Making sure the layout is layered correctly and ready for BG paint.
Making sure layout has accurate field guides and that they are in position ready for scene planning and animation.
If needed, making sure that the layout has accurately scaled character guides, ready for scene planning and animation.
Knowledge:
Strong knowledge in art and design with a focus on Animation.
Strong artistic sensibility, a strong sense of composition, centered on environments for animated productions.
Familiarity with the 2D pipeline.
Knowledge of Photoshop
Experience:
Layout or environmental visual development for an animated TV Series or Feature (or equivalent).
Technical Skills:
Drawing & painting within an animation environment.
Expert in Photoshop.
