Position Overview: Compugen is seeking a Power Builder Technical Lead on a part time basis with up to 30 hours per week for a 3 year contract starting in October. Primary responsibilities include the ability to work in a collaborative, team environment to support the technical/administrative and programmatic delivery of PowerBuilder applications that address the business problems and opportunities of clients.

Key Responsibilities: Solution Design & Implementation

  • Partner with cross-functional ITD teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and architect innovative solutions using the PowerBuilder Platform.
  • Design, customize, and configure platform components—such as workflows, forms, dashboards, and reports—to align with evolving business needs.
  • Contribute to the development of custom applications using a range of ITD technologies, including .NET, Azure Functions, Git, HTML, Java, MySQL/PLSQL, Web Services, and DevOps tools.
  • Perform data migration from legacy systems and databases such as SQL Server and Oracle.
  • Develop tailored reports and visualizations using Power BI and other enterprise reporting tools.


Technical Leadership

  • Lead the technical delivery of PowerBuilder Platform projects, ensuring alignment with business requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to enhance platform stability, scalability, and performance.
  • Design and implement utilities and tools to streamline platform management and operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the PowerBuilder ecosystem.


Platform Administration & Support

  • Administer user access, roles, and security configurations within the PowerBuilder Platform.
  • Conduct regular maintenance, apply updates, and troubleshoot technical issues to maintain optimal system performance.
  • Deliver responsive support and technical guidance to end-users and stakeholders.
  • Continuously optimize existing solutions to boost efficiency and user productivity.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and Appeon PowerBuilder support to resolve complex issues and adopt best practices.
  • Oversee application release cycles and refine deployment processes using Azure DevOps pipelines.


System Integration

  • Integrate the PowerBuilder Platform with enterprise systems to enable seamless data exchange and interoperability.
  • Design and implement data flows, transformations, and integration solutions to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and availability.


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or an IT technical diploma with experience working in the IT sector.
  • Demonstrated experience with PowerBuilder IDE version 2022+ and OLE, PFC, Superclass.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior PowerBuilder Technical Lead.
  • Experience leading design, development and implementation of major application enhancements and/or new projects.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, planning and performing PowerBuilder software version upgrades.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Lead PowerBuilder Developer
