The Creative Director plays a pivotal dual role within the Industry Solutions team, balancing corporate operations and strategic creative direction. This leadership position requires an agile, solutions-oriented approach to both the execution of corporate priorities and the delivery of bold, strategic creative vision that elevates client experiences and drives innovation.
Strategic Creative Leadership:
- Inspiring innovative thinking and best-in-class creative execution aligned with scientific accuracy and strategic objectives.
- Acting as a brand ensuring creative work reflects client and organizational values, tone, and impact.
- Leading ideation and conceptual development across diverse channels and project types.
- Cultivating a high-performing creative culture through mentorship, talent development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Business Operations Leadership
- Driving workflow consistency and compliance through SOPs and project management tools (Monday.com).
- Ensuring timely, on-budget project execution in alignment with financial targets and resource allocations through resource planning and forecasting accuracy.
- Leading creative operational efficiency by minimizing rework and optimizing team capacity.
- Establishing review structures and processes that ensure accountability and adherence to performance KPls.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of biomedical communicators and graphic designers to elevate and build new skill sets and efficiencies.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Project Services to evaluate and guide their performance to ensure strategic objectives are clearly communicated and implemented within projects, deadlines are met, and quality and compliance standards are maintained.
- Creative and strategic leader to drive creative execution while inspiring creative ideation in the creative team through briefings, guidance, design reviews and brainstorming.
- Leading the team through development of creative assets from ideation and design; liaising with client and internal stakeholders through to completion of client deliverables
- Taking business goals and translating them into creative projects. Collaboration and influence to build effective relationships with stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Take ownership of Creative workflow processes, troubleshoot efficiency issues, state priority deliverables, and manage the day-to-day activities of the Industry Solutions team.
- Work collaboratively with the Director of Project Services, Editorial Director and Director of Veterinary Services to provide coaching, leadership, and guidance to drive consistency in execution throughout the team.
- Consult with Account Executives, in collaboration with the Editorial Director and Director of Veterinary Services to review draft SOWs to help ensure effective allocation of resources, and timely delivery when meeting client needs.
- Maintain discipline to manage allocated project hours by role and stay on budget.
- Work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse group of individuals.
- Strategically recruit and engage both permanent and freelance resources to support client deliverables on time and within the stated scope and budget.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in creative and elearning tools including Articulate 360 (Storyline), Adobe Creative Cloud (lnDesign, After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop), PowerPoint (advanced), and video editing tools. Familiarity with Monday.com for project tracking, and experience with LMS platforms an asset.
- Resource and Fiscal Management – including effective use of team capacity, materials, and project budgets to ensure efficient delivery of creative outputs within financial targets.
- Project Management – Accurately estimates duration and level of difficulty of tasks and projects. Completes resource allocations, sets goals, objectives, and work plans to complete projects on time and on budget.
- Leadership – Works well with a wide range of individuals to provide support, coaching, encouragement, and strategic direction.
- Accountability – Works collaboratively with peers to lead the creative team. Taking ownership of team deliverables while leading efficiency and quality of solutions delivered by employees under his/her direction.
- Organized – Highly organized, with good project management and time management skills to ensure all deadlines are met. Able to juggle multiple, and sometimes conflicting priorities and
needs. - Communication – Expresses and transmits expectations and information with consistency and purpose driven clarity.
- Managing Performance – Identifies employees’ strengths and weaknesses and provides direction and support regarding areas of professional growth while building on strengths.
- Problem Solving – Able to break down a situation into smaller pieces to identify key issues and figure out cause and effect relationships in order to solve.
Experience:
- Graduate degree or an advanced degree in a related field or appropriate experience – BMC preferred.
- Eight+ years of progressive experience in creative or content development role including 3-5 years in a senior leadership role (Creative Director or Associate Director) where you owned end-to-end delivery of projects – Agency experience preferred.
- Proven experience with coaching, mentorship and motivating professional growth in teams.
- Expertise in managing external partners, agencies, and freelancers.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written with proven ability to communicate with all stakeholders including technical, professional, and senior management.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
