Position Details International Student Services (ISS) is responsible for providing opportunities and support services that strengthen and enhance international students’ learning at uLethbridge. Reporting to the Manager, International Student Services, the International Student Conversion Specialist (ISCS) plays a crucial role in supporting the enrolment and conversion of prospective international students at the University of Lethbridge
This position is responsible for guiding students through the entire decision-making process, from admission offer to enrollment, ensuring a smooth transition and fostering strong relationships between the institution and its international student community. The ISCS implements the international student conversion communication plan to provide students with guidance regarding their next steps. This includes study permit application, class registration, pre-arrival preparation, and arrival on campus. The role focuses on converting admitted students into enrolled students by providing exceptional support, clear communication, and tailored information to ensure a smooth transition to Canada. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges faced by international students, excellent written communication skills, and data management skills International Student Services works collaboratively with internal and external partners to offer services and advocacy. This position will work collaboratively within the International Office and with other departments across the University (e.g., Admissions)
Key Responsibilities:
Personalized Outreach: The ISCS will engage in personalized communication with international students from the moment they receive an Offer of Admission until they have registered in classes for their first term. These communications are mainly via email, but additional tools such as the iCent app and the Discord Server will be used to increase reach. Additionally, the ISCS may develop and implement new strategies to convert prospective international students into enrolled students
iCent App Management: In collaboration with Manager, International Student Services, manage the iCent app. Tasks include adding new students to the platform, updating information for new and continuing students, scheduling push notifications, tracking of study permits and study permit approvals for new students
International Student Conversion Plan Management: Support the Manager, International Student Services with the development and maintenance of the international student conversion communication plan. This includes updating all email communications for each term of admission, tailoring communications to different defined audiences, and developing new communications when required. The plan also includes communication triggers and timing.
Conversion Data Analysis: The ISCS will analyze conversion data and student feedback to identify barriers and bottlenecks in the conversion process and propose strategies for improvement. This requires them to analyze and track conversions and identify trends to optimize conversion tactics. Provide regular updates to the Manager, International Student Services.
Process optimization: With the support of the Manager, International Student Services, they will work closely with the international recruitment team to streamline the enrolment process for international students, ensuring a seamless experience for students.

Conversion Efficiencies and Automatization: The ISCS will explore CRM options with the aim to reduce the manual work required to convert students and improve tracking of our conversion efforts
Other:
  • Assists the Manager, international student services with other tasks as needed to support current and incoming students.
  • Liaise and collaborate with Academic departments, Admission, and Student services units to streamline processes related to international student admissions, enrolment, and retention.
  • Participate in certain department-wide or campus-wide responsibilities including special events (NSO and Services Fair), special projects, committees, working groups, etc.

Position Qualifications
  • Applicants must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and at least two years of related work experience, ideally working in positions related to international student support in a post-secondary institution.
  • Previous experience should demonstrate excellent written and oral communication, organization and time-management, attention to detail and computer skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel, and student information systems (BANNER preferred).
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, strong organizational and analytical skills, and effective time management.
  • Familiarity with the international student experience and needs.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence: an ability to work knowledgeably, effectively, and appropriately with people from a variety of cultural contexts different than one’s own.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and to develop effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Ability to manage the complexity inherent within a multi-faceted work environment focused on broad outcomes for students.
  • Knowledge of Canadian immigration legislation, policies and regulations specifically related to international students, and their dependents. RISIA/RCIC license is considered an asset.
  • Overseas work/study experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of additional language(s) preferred.

Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $4,772.00 - $5,403.00 monthly
Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE) $4,772.00 - $6,034.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 11)
