School of Indigenous Education POSITION TYPE: Full-Time Position Available SALARY: $63,375 - $96,946 per annum*
  • The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

Reporting to the Chair, Indigenous Innovation and Science Education, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor for the Social Innovation and Community Development Program. Responsibilities include course development, classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. Examples of subject areas include finance, economics, project management, human resources, and marketing. The primary responsibilities are to deliver high quality instruction, develop relevant and current lessons, plan and develop course materials using adult learning principles, and use various assessment methods to evaluate student learning. It is also important to participate in college activities, build positive relationships, respect individual ways of knowing, and collaborate to achieve positive outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting adult learners and a commitment to lifelong learning REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Business Management, Social Innovation, Project Management, Human Resources, Economics, or a related discipline; a combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
  • Experience in social innovation and community development
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of Two-Eyed Seeing, incorporating both Indigenous Knowledge in Education
  • Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers to ensure respectful and authentic inclusion of Indigenous perspectives
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
  • Indigenous Ancestry
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
  • This position may be required to travel
