Mining Engineer

MatchBox is looking for a Mining Engineer for an owner operator in the coal mining industry. Our client is a publicly traded company with a pipeline of projects spanning multiple geographic locations. You will be the part of a team that is deeply rooted in the industry and has a wealth of experience. The Mining Engineer will be responsible for developing a strategy for the lifetime of a mine and the forecast of production, capital and costs. With your experience in developing projects and using planning and scheduling software, you will be able to handle mine planning projects, mine design, economic analysis, and coordinating with other departments.
Responsibilities:
- To develop and strategize a life of mine and five-year mine plans
- To present findings and documentations related to capital forecasting and cost modelling
- To create a plan and schedule, production targets and equipment utilization forecasts
- To comply with environmental and geotechnical considerations for all designs
- To complete cost estimating and economic analysis
- To assist with reporting, invoicing and tracking of production and costs
- To evaluate mining options using detailed cost models
- To create project schedules, risks and budgets to compare against previous plans
- To contribute to pit, spoil, haulage and mine access designs
Requirements:
- Five or more years of experience
- Education in an Engineering program in Mining, Civil or Geotechnical
- Member of or eligible to register with the EGBC (Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC)
- Familiarity with operations for open pit, truck and shovel for short and long-term planning
- Experienced with estimates and feasibility studies
- Familiar with mine planning software
- Experience with mine scheduling programs
- Analytical, problem solving skills and comfortable making recommendations
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Capacity to work in a self-directed manner and possess good time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with others in a technical team-based environment
