Role Overview

Goodmorning.com is seeking a detail-oriented accountant who can work independently and take charge of the company’s full cycle accounting. In this role you will support the controller in the preparation of financial statements, collaborate on cross-functional projects, learn the business, and build process efficiencies within the Finance team. This is a 12-month term opportunity, with the opportunity to extend to permanent full-time at the end of the contract.

In this role, you will

  • Prepare accurate monthly financial statements in a timely manner
  • Budget to actual variance analysis
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a regular basis
  • Manage vendor payment processing in multiple currencies
  • Monitor customer credit card transactions and refunds
  • Assist with management reporting on performance indicators
  • Assist with projects such as the annual budget and corporate valuation
  • Partner with operations and IT teams as part of a financial systems transformation
  • Audit vendor invoices and inventory quantities
  • Participate in process improvement through continuously assessing and recommending improvements for accounting processes, controls, and the efficiency of the Finance team.

Our ideal candidate

  • Will possess a post-secondary degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of experience in preparing month end financial statements, bank reconciliation, expense processing.
  • Preference will be given to candidates currently enrolled in an Accounting designation (CPA) or working towards it.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and understanding of accounting standards (ASPE and or IFRS)
  • Demonstrated professionalism when handling financial information.

  • Proficiency working with spreadsheets
