Position Details
As a member of the Finance Leadership Team, the Senior Manager, Accounting, will work within the corporate accounting team, and report to the Controller. It falls to the Senior Manager, Accounting, to act as a central source who understands all of the various goings-on within the various business units. The general responsibilities will be to lead a team of professionals and oversee the company's large scale developments, providing ongoing analysis and reporting, and managing cash flows. Manages, either directly or through subordinates, various aspects of the accounting and compliance functions including cash, accounts receivable, trade payables, cost accounting, and revenue recognition. Reviews employee work products, understands and maintains appropriate internal controls, communicates company policies, interfaces with auditors, and provides management with data required to manage the company.

You Will
- Lead a team of 2-5 individuals and leaders in the General Accounting and Admin teams, including selection/hiring, goal setting, performance management, coaching/development and training. Drive team member engagement, retention and productivity.
- Be a trusted and valued business partner who will work closely with the Controller, and department leaders to provide critical information to make decisions that will drive revenue and lower costs.
- Assist Controller in the safeguarding of company assets by reviewing, monitoring and implementing controls and adopting best practices across all business entities. Provide accounting oversight for various financial statement reserves including Allowance for Doubtful Accounts (AFDA), deferred revenue and intercompany transactions. Lead preparation of these monthly entries. Coordinates and prepares audit requirements and analysis ensuring it is recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Manage payroll accounting function and all other confidential employee matters.
- Manage admin team continuing to foster relationship with Panama shared services team. Continue to push for improvements in daily processing and streamlining work.
- Lead the company treasury function ensuring Corporate Treasury policies are adhered to. Manage relationships with Banks, and Credit Card Payment providers. Lead preparation of cashflow reporting and quarterly and annual cashflow forecasts.
- Manages preparation of annual balance sheet plan in collaboration with FP&A. Prepares quarterly Balance Sheet (BS) forecasts as required.
- Drive continuous improvement by leading the team to automate, refine, and implement processes, tools and deliverables both within Cost Accounting and supporting business functions.
- Associate's Degree Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent Required
- 7+ years of financial experience, with at least 5 years of management experience
- Must have a strong understanding of major accounting cycles and general accepted accounting principles
- Familiarity with US GAAP, consolidation accounting, Sarbanes Oxley and SEC reporting requirements, and corporate financial reporting experience is desirable
- Familiarity with Canadian sales tax compliance is required
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and proven change management experience.
- Proven ability to attract, develop and retain superior talent
- Excellent analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, big picture thinking, ability to challenge the status quo and determine how cost accounting activities can be planned and executed more effectively and efficiently.
- Understand end to end processes, identification of critical risks to assess whether controls are designed and operating effectively.
- Ability to understand and articulate complex accounting topics.
- Must be able to shift focus easily and draw timely conclusions as business needs arise
- Independently problem-solve and be able to determine root cause and develop action plans to resolve issues
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to understand the details and effectively present to Senior Management in a clear and concise manner.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to build effective relationships and influence decision making.
- Adherence to deadlines, especially during the monthly and quarterly close process. Additional hours may be required during close cycles.
- Team player with the ability to operate in complex, rapidly changing environment and cope with adherence to tight deadlines
- Experience with SAP, BPC and Blackline are strongly preferred. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Power BI and Snowflake would be considered an asset.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) CPA Upon Hire Required
