Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President, Operations and Asset Management, the incumbent manages a multidisciplinary team of 61 people from the Infrastructure Maintenance, Engineering and Port Asset Management departments, including docks (26 km), rail network (100 km), electrical network, pavement, sewer and water systems, buildings and rolling stock. The incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and controlling port infrastructure management activities, and ensuring their sustainability through the implementation of a global, strategic, and competitive vision based on best asset management practices, in support of the Port of Montréal's strategic orientations.

The key responsibilities for this position will include:

Asset management:

  • Implement an asset management system to support the Port of Montréal's strategic objectives.
  • Manage the asset base in compliance with current policies, in collaboration with the Real Estate, Finance and Procurement departments;
  • Determine optimal strategies for asset maintenance and development, taking into account risks, criticality, and expected levels of service and performance, in order to justify the investments required to ensure the long-term viability of the assets and the creation of value for APM and its partners;
  • Ensure the constant updating of our asset base and control all aspects of it;

Implementation of projects and maintenance plans:

  • Ensure that projects are carried out with due regard for operational and maintenance issues.
  • Implement the tools needed to monitor and optimize projects and maintenance plans;
  • Ensure that established preventive maintenance plans are carried out, and that corrective plans are implemented within defined parameters.
  • Ensure compliance with processes set up to ensure continuous updating of the asset management system.
  • Ensure compliance with the best project management practices in place for the portfolio of maintenance, upkeep, and development projects for MPA or our customers, and ensure follow-up.
  • Support our partners in terms of technical expertise to optimize the contribution and value of our assets or the completion of projects.

Health and safety, environment, and sustainable development:

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards and procedures for maintenance activities and project implementation.
  • Contribute actively and significantly to the implementation of an occupational health and safety management system in collaboration with the EHS team.
  • Ensure the integration of project and maintenance activities with fundamental sustainable development concepts.
  • Ensure that our customers and port users adhere to and respect our environmental standards and policies.
  • Ensure that environmental authorizations are obtained and complied with for our activities.
  • Contribute to the social acceptability of the port's activities.

Resource management:

  • Responsible for managing a team of engineers and professionals (20), maintenance employees (37) and support staff (4).
  • Possess a systemic vision of the processes involved in the acquisition of goods, materials, and services in order to support our internal budgetary controls.
  • Ensure and implement an organization aimed at the transfer of acquired knowledge and the potential development of knowledge.
  • Contribute to team mobilization by implementing initiatives aimed at raising and maintaining the level of mobilization.
  • Develop relevant performance indicators with a view to establishing a dashboard.
  • Support a collaborative approach with union executives.
  • Support his team in establishing simple and effective communication processes while integrating the principles of continuous improvement.
  • Establish individual and team objectives based on SMART (Specific, Measurable, Acceptable, Realistic, Timely) objectives;

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec ;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively on several projects at the same time under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and focus on process implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation and evolution of strategies, processes, and systems.
  • Creativity in implementing key asset management practices.
  • Ability to challenge conventional wisdom with an open mind and a sense of innovation.
  • Dynamism and professional integrity;
  • Strong interpersonal skills: tact, diplomacy and persuasiveness needed to deal with different internal departments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to represent the Administration at external meetings and events.
  • Proven ability to provide inclusive leadership.
  • Valid driver's license;
  • Bilingualism.
