Overview:


A well-established and growing construction firm in Victoria is seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Estimator to join its team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in residential and commercial construction, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to delivering accurate and competitive project estimates.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns for materials, labour, and equipment.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, architects, and consultants during preconstruction and design phases.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender submissions, budgets, and change orders.
  • Maintain up-to-date cost databases and historical pricing records.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, constraints, and potential cost impacts.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.


Qualifications:


  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a construction estimating role, preferably in both residential and commercial sectors.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, MS Excel, PlanSwift) and construction documentation.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team environment.
