What You'll Do:
- Prepare and review pension-related items, including annual budgeting and forecasting, quarterly accounting and reporting, year end financial statement note disclosures and Governance Committee board materials:
- Support in the oversight of the audit of the Company’s pension plan financial statements;
- Support the preparation of the company’s quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, MD&A and earnings release;
- Prepare and review periodic and quarterly adjusting journal entries and reconciliations for assigned business segments and/or for specific complex accounting areas;
- Collaborate closely with various operating divisions and various teams at George Weston Limited, as required, to ensure timely and consistent management and external financial reporting
- Participate in projects that are necessary for the broader team’s achievement of its reporting deliverables (examples: acquisition accounting, accounting implications of business and strategic initiatives, legal entity financial statements for tax filings, etc…)
- Participate in other special projects, as required.
- 12 month contract role.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or equivalent.
- 5-7 years related external reporting work experience;
- Advanced Excel skills and experience in FCCS and SAP would be an asset;
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and required disclosures; strong knowledge of Ontario Securities Commission requirements and required disclosures;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization;
- Results oriented – consistently delivers on time and drives for results; Enthusiastic team player with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced changing work environment;
- Strong problem-solving skills; Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other departments and build strong working relationships.
