Position Summary
The Master is first in command of the vessel and is responsible for all shipboard and portside operations. The Master serves as the supervisor of shipboard personnel and ensures crew compliance with regulatory and MMTL policy.

Main Responsibilities
- Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of product from the vessel (docking and discharge).
- Ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods to pre-designed destinations (maneuvering, operation of Navigational and radio equipment, steering, Ballast water management, navigation of rivers and directs line-handling operations, crew management).
- Manager of all shipboard operations.
- Implements Safety Management System on board the vessel. Supervises and conducts various safety related activities including safety drills, safety meetings.
- Directing the crew in emergency situations in a manner that protects the safety of the crew, the environment and Company assets.
- Maintaining and keeping vessel in compliance with various regulations as may be applicable by Transport Canada and / or local regulations.
- Ensuring that all incidents involving crew injuries, environmental pollution and damage to Company assets are investigated to the highest standard.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Captains must hold the following minimum qualifications subject to variance in the vessels safe manning documents Master Mariner license Marine Emergency Duties with respect to STCW basic safety
- MED training with respect to proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats MED in advanced firefighting
- MED for senior officers
- SEN II ECDIS Generic
- Marine Medicare
- Specialized Oil Tanker Training certificate of proficiency with Transport Canada Level 2 Endorsement.
- General Operators Certificate
- Bridge Resource Management training
- Certificate of Proficiency as a Ship Security Officer
- A valid Passport and Marine Medical
- A thorough understating and experience with various marine industry regulations including ISM code
- Experience as a Captain of a tanker vessel equal to or greater than 3000 GRT or experience on a similar sized vessel with suitable experience as a First Mate.
- Pilotage Certificates PM2 for Cornwall District District 1 LO District District 2
- Tanker Experience
- Experience in carriage of Bitumen Asphalt is an asset
- Dual Fuel LNG training as per IGF Code Advanced
- Eligible to enter the US
- Occupational Health and Safety.
- Oil Spill Response.
- Ship handling.
- Accident/Hazard Investigation training.
- Hazard Prevention
