Position Summary
The Senior Legal Counsel will provide general corporate and commercial advice to IREN’s business teams. This role will support the IREN team across a range of functions (depending on your skills) and guide our leadership with legal, governance, risk, compliance and regulatory advice.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for:
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial contracts;
- Managing a specific legal function (for example, employment, incentives and compensation arrangements and/or litigation experience preferred but not required);
- Assisting with the group’s board and governance arrangements;
- Managing external counsel relationships and legal budgets effectively;
- Monitoring changes in laws and regulations affecting IREN and developing internal policies and training programs to ensure compliance;
- Providing training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory requirements;
- Providing global legal support across time zones to the business including providing legal advice to the team located in Vancouver, BC and partnering with teams located in Australia and the United States; and
- Operating with relative autonomy as a trusted partner and advisor.
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited Canadian law school;
- An active membership with a Canadian law society and are qualified to practice law in the province of British Columbia;
- Employment, incentives or compensation experience preferred but not required;
- Litigation experience preferred but not required;
- At least 6 years’ experience gained from a law firm, in-house or both; and
- International experience (in particular in Australia or the United States) preferred but not required.

- Salary range: starting at CAD $150,000 , depending on experience
- Short-term and long-term incentive programs;
