Reporting to the Manager, Budget and Financial Planning, the Budget and Financial Planning Technician will provide administrative support to the Budget and Financial Planning business unit, including the manager and senior accountants.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Maintaining calendars, scheduling meetings, and managing correspondence.
  • Managing and maintaining confidential information and files related to budgeting and financial matters.
  • Assisting with the preparation of various budget documents and business plans by department.
  • SharePoint site administrator.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of new budgeting policies and procedures.
  • Conducting research and providing recommendations to the budget services team on best practices and new technologies to streamline budgeting processes.
  • Providing customer service support to internal and external stakeholders including responding to inquiries and resolving issues related to budgeting and business planning processes and procedures.

The successful candidate will have a post-secondary Diploma in Business Administration specializing in Finance or Accounting. A Local Government Certificate is considered an asset. A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in a finance environment is required. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills and possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy is crucial for this role. The incumbent must have a strong understanding of the budgeting process and procedures and have well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in M365 (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint), including SharePoint is required.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday.
