East Kootenay Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Switchboard Operator Clerk to join their team in Cranbrook B.C.!
This position works rotating days, evenings, nights 06:00 to 14:00, 14:00 to 22:00, 22:00 to 06:00
Days off: rotating

What Will You Work On?
Duties
This position performs a variety of clerical duties associated with operating the switchboard, receiving and registering patients, processing accounts receivable such as:
- Processes calls (internal and external) and establishes communication links.
- Provides information to customers and assists in relaying messages to appropriate source.
- Answers emergency calls and follows established communications procedures in emergency situations such as cardiac arrest, bombs threats and disasters.
- Maintains Physician paging system and after hours physician’s emergency lines as per established protocol.
- Records and organizes data to facilitate the operations of the morgue. Informs appropriate personnel of any unusual circumstances/situations. Arranges transport with funeral homes as required.
- Receives "On-Call" information from physicians and updates data as required. Communicates changes to appropriate individuals needing current, accurate information.
- Receives patent porter requests and dispatches transfers to the patient porter team.
- Maintains confidentiality of classified information and keeps manager informed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Completion of Grade 12
- A 5-minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non-supervised tests not accepted). Click here for testing details.
- Your Resume indicating two years recent related experience, Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- A Cover Letter stating your availability to start in a new position and on-call, casual work (i.e. days of the week);
