Our Procurement Department is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Procurement to lead procurement operations, optimize supply chain strategies, and ensure cost effective and innovative sourcing practices for the City. This leadership role is crucial in driving operational efficiencies, managing supplier relationships and enforcing compliance with procurement policies, regulations and Trade Agreements.

Position Responsibilities

  • Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring transparency, cost-effectiveness and compliance with municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the procurement team while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Research and implement best practices in inventory control, logistics and supply chain optimization to improve efficiency and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to assess procurement requirements and develop long-term supply chain strategies.

Qualifications

  • Six years of progressive experience in purchasing & procurement, preferably in the public sector with a portion of those years in a leadership role.
  • Professional designation in Supply Chain Management and / or Public Procurement (SCMP, CPPO, CPPB, CPP), Contract Law, or Legal.
  • Strong knowledge of public sector procurement regulations and processes, competitive bidding and contract law.
  • Experience with implementing and managing procurement software systems and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic change and innovation in procurement processes.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation and communication skills.
  • A combination of formal education and experience may be considered.

Hours

The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.

Compensation

Starting salary $57.36 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
