About the Role:
The purpose of this position is to support the development, implementation and management of the site Health and Safety systems to ensure regulatory compliance and to achieve continuous improvement in terms of performance and culture in line with Ferrero Group Health and Safety standards. Supports plant Operations by educating employees and administering and monitoring health and safety procedures to ensure the health and safety of all personnel working in the facility. Promotes organizational compliance with all applicable regulations and Ferrero standards.

Supports plant Operations by educating employees and administering and monitoring health and safety procedures to ensure the health and safety of all personnel working in the facility. Promotes organizational compliance with all applicable regulations and Ferrero standards.
Main Responsibilities:
Training and Development
- Develop site specific (Ferrero) policy and training programs for Lock Out Tag Out, Aerial Work Platforms, Fall Arrest, WHMIS, Forklift (Power Walkie, Narrow Isle, Reach Truck), Crane, and others as required. Training to be renewed as per CSA Standard and OHSA
- Assist with New Hire Orientation – ensure new hires are fully trained in policies and procedures before entering facility
- Develop annual training calendar and schedule Health and Safety training
- Assist the UGP Manger to ensure all RTO’s/Supervisor’s and TL’s have required training (Cert 1&2, First Aid, etc.)
- Assist with the management of WSIB claims from initial injury until close
- Correspond with Doctor, Adjudicator, and injured employee for claim updates, cost relief factors, appeals, and other.
- Work with injured employee and Supervisor to assign adequate duties that work within employee’s restrictions from Dr. (FAF) for safe and early return to work – to ensure zero lost time
- Monitor employee’s progression and ensure that employees continue to improve on their modified duties until they are fit to return to full duties.
- Work with Return to Work Specialist from WSIB to ensure modified duties are adequate and approved by Adjudicator for employee
- Assist front line supervisors in the management of any unsafe work/conditions that may arise
- Work with line team to provide proper tools and equipment to employees when needed to conduct their duties
- Support to all employees and line leads on items that need attention in regard to safety
- Assist with safety investigations
- Support the JHSC to hold monthly safety meetings to discuss safety issues within the facility
- Ensure members are adequately trained to conduct their duties
- Support JHSC to conduct Building Audits to find safety hazards and improper work procedures
- Work with members on Work Refusals and various issues that are present (PSR’s)
- Support JHSC to Sign off on Pre-Start Reviews and Lock Out Tag out Procedures to Commission machinery
- Investigate major incidents for severity and frequency (SIF / PSIF)
- Support line team on investigations minor incidents/accidents, near miss, etc.
- Support line team on data entry of all incidents that occur within Ferrero for reports and monitoring
- Analyze injury trends for root cause to eliminate it from occurring again
- Present data at UGP meetings/Plant team meetings
- Assist UGP’s in ensuring compliance to local legislation through audits and checks, working to close any non-compliance items identified
- Support the site in the continuous improvement towards Ferrero health and safety standards, through continuous learning, training, and programs evolution
- To assist in the implementation of and conformance to the Environmental Management System within key process areas.
- Ensure all program requirements/standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced and maintained
- Level 1 and 2 Certification
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial and local regulations (i.e., OHSA, OHSA Regulations, WSIB Policy ).
- Safety Culture / SIF / PSIF / HOP (preferred)
- Post secondary education within a Health & Safety discipline
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft platforms (Office 365, Power Bi)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
- Strong investigative, analytical, human relations and communication skills
