Job Summary
Prepares market value appraisals on real estate assets with support, supervision, training and mentoring by Senior Appraiser or Manager. Emphasis is on institutional quality and industrial assets. Assists the senior appraisers in preparation of real estate appraisal reports, including data and market analysis, operating budget review, entering data into sale and property databases, inspecting properties, etc. Confirms data, conducts discussions with market participants and performs additional research as necessary.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepares and completes analysis and research on appraisal assignments.
Conducts research and analysis on properties, including verification of comparable sale and lease transactions, demographics, and market area analyses, etc.
Assists and/or leads in the preparation of reports with support and analytical guidance of senior appraiser.
Analyzes past revenue and expense performance to project a stabilized operating statement.
Conducts property inspections to gather relevant data for appraisal purposes.
Stays updated on local real estate market trends and changes in regulations; identifies trends in the market or industry that may affect the value of assets being valued.
Supports business development through participation in initiatives, relationship building with contemporaries at client organizations and attendance at networking events.
Assists in executing enhanced client reporting, e.g. templates, dashboards etc. Contributes to improvements to existing processes and solutions to further enhance the efficiency of the team.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and/or a minimum 1-2 years experience with an appraisal firm or with commercial real estate oriented financial underwriting experience. Basic knowledge of Argus (AE) is an asset.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
AIC candidacy is an asset. It is expected that the successful candidate will actively pursue the AACI P.App. designation with the Appraisal institute of Canada.
Communication Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and interacting with clients. Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in valuations and documentation is essential. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to clients and co-workers. Ability to effectively present information
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires knowledge of financial real estate terms and principles. Basic understanding of approaches to value relative to real estate assets.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS And/or ABILITIES
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic knowledge of Argus (AE) is an asset.
Must be able to work in a high-volume, fast paced environment.
Must be organized, be able to prioritize, multi-task and have superior time management skills.
