About The Role
The main responsibility of the Manager, Financial Reporting & Controls is to ensure consolidated and non-consolidated financial reporting is according to GAAP, strong internal controls are applied and provide guidance on application of accounting policies.

About The Role
The main responsibility of the Manager, Financial Reporting & Controls is to ensure consolidated and non-consolidated financial reporting is according to GAAP, strong internal controls are applied and provide guidance on application of accounting policies.
What You’ll Do Here
- Manages timely review of detailed accounts reconciliations, analysis and approval of journal entries within deadlines and procedures.
- Ensures that transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP and accounting records are thoroughly maintained in preparation for external audits.
- Prepares/reviews and maintains adequate documentation of the business processes and internal controls.
- Establish a strategy for internal control testing, support financial analysts in testing, review and make recommendations.
- Develops analysis for ensuring accuracy of financial data.
- Reviews monthly financial statements (consolidated or on a stand-alone basis) for various entities.
- Reviews financial statements and management reporting (monthly, quarterly and annually) for accuracy and consistency.
- Maintains a solid working knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Contributes to special projects, process improvement initiatives, internal communication, and financial system optimization.
- Managing the corporate financial reporting process, including preparation of consolidated financial statements and quarterly reports to the stakeholders
- Helping to develop and maintain accounting policies
- Leading financial reporting projects, such as implementation of changes in accounting standards
- Managing relationships with external auditors
- Manages, mentors, and supports employees under their responsibility.
- Responsible for the annual performance review of the team and career development.
- Communicates issues/concerns on a timely manner to his/her superior and identifies action items for resolutions.
- Manages finance related projects as needed.
- Acts as liaison officer between the various departments and Finance to ensure integration of changes to our policies and procedures.
- Ensures that all processes and decisions are in line with Altasciences SOPs and local legal requirements.
- Supports business partners in providing financial information/analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in administration/accounting
- CPA designation is an asset
- 8 years’ experience in accounting, auditing and financial reporting, with a proven track record of leadership
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Knowledge of Workday Finance modules.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of GAAP
- Proficiency in financial software and advanced spreadsheet applications
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders
- Strategic thinker, focused on efficiency and improving existing processes
- Ability to identify financial issues and execute mitigating actions
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple work requirements / projects to meet deadlines
- Ability to perform/adapt in an evolutive and dynamic and complex environment
- Self-motivated and pro-active, with respect to both managing workload and professional development
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken), bilingualism is mandatory (French & English)
- The employee frequently communicates with Altasciences employees across Canada and the United States. As such, English is the primary language used to correspond between offices.
- The employee frequently communicates with English-only customers outside the province of Quebec.
