We also offer duty counsel service to in-custody clients, regardless of financial status, at 74 Provincial Courthouses and various circuit points. Legal advice through the Brydges Line is accessible to those who are arrested or detained. Additionally, summary advice and information on a wide range of matters are available through brief interviews or phone calls. Legal Aid Saskatchewan operates from 14 offices across the province, ensuring access to justice since 1974.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Lawyer in Prince Albert, SK. The Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal representation and advice to clients, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in court. Day-to-day tasks include client consultations, case preparations, court appearances, and collaboration with other legal professionals. The role involves handling both criminal and family law cases, and ensuring clients receive the best possible legal support.
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school and membership in the Law Society of Saskatchewan
- Experience in criminal law and family law
- Excellent legal research and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in drafting legal documents and case preparation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
- Strong client service orientation and ability to empathize with clients
- Experience or knowledge of the legal aid environment is an asset
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel as required
