Role Mandate:
The District Manager in Training role will support, and job shadow the District Manager in leading the district and will have the opportunity to further their understanding of the business through personal development and direct experience.
You will provide coaching and mentoring to Store Leadership Teams in a way that fosters a culture reflective of our CORE Values of Care, Ownership, Respect and Excellence, while at the same time ensuring that our Superstore corporate plan is driven and operational procedures and standards are adhered to. You drive to improve business growth and performance to achieve or exceed financial goals as set out in the budget.
This position requires an advanced level of initiative and judgment to organize and prioritize tasks, workload and projects. You will embrace innovation and be motivated to drive growth adopting an agile approach and being pragmatic in application. You are always driving to the big picture, even while worrying about the details. You love collaborating with others, understanding that that brings better results. You look hard problems in the eye, and figure out how to solve them.

What you'll do:
- Collaborate with Store Support to develop and communicate a district plan that establishes financial targets and provides a strong strategic direction for each store in Your district.
- Liaise closely with Store Support and Store Management to provide coaching and guidance, leadership growth, develop day to day operations, achieve targets and foster an environment of community, customer centricity and continuous improvement.
- Perform regular store visits to monitor the implementation and execution of strategic plans, including marketing and merchandising, adherence to operational standards and identify opportunities to improve performance.
- Analyze sales and financial data including P&L statements to monitor the financial success of each location, highlight potential growth areas, and ensure the Store Managers are on target to meet budget.
- Monitor business systems in each location to highlight and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and communicate action plans to successfully implement Corporate and Superstore initiatives efficiently and effectively.
- Develop and communicate operational methodologies and best working practices to improve customer service, visual merchandising and process improvements.
- Communicate regularly with Store Managers and their teams to resolve issues or concerns promptly, coordinating between Stores and Store Support and provide recommendations as required.
- Identify potential new talent and assist in interviewing, hiring and training of Colleagues to develop strong skills across the store.
- Building and leading diverse teams that foster a workplace of inclusiveness and belonging
- Requires an ability to apply concepts and theories to improve results.
- Manages the district by focusing on achievement of objectives and celebration of successes.
- Requires interpersonal skills to resolve situations with Colleagues where there may be some level of conflict, stress or uncertainty.
- Provide solutions by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required.
- Apply decision making skills to achieve specific organizational objectives.
- Adaptable to set and prioritize work with varying exceptions. Able to work with diverse personalities and styles.
- Communicates with clarity, both written and in verbal situations either one to one or group situations, or over the telephone. Computer skills to produce and interpret reports, documents and presentations. Knowledge of inventory management, SAP.
- Professional manner, tact, and diplomacy.
- Greater than five years grocery retail or equivalent with experience leading large teams.
