Primary Objective of the Position:
The successful applicant will be responsible for all aspects of the station including the efficient handling of Cargo while ensuring a high standard of customer satisfaction and on-time performance of the network.
Essential Position Functions:
- Coach and develop employees, including conducting orientation, performance management, training, and disciplinary action when required.
- Schedule and manage employee shifts ensuring that all aspects of the operation are covered. Complete and approve payroll timesheets on a bi-weekly basis.
- Participate in and oversee workplace Health & Safety meetings and site inspections as required by the Canada Labour Code.
- Work closely with Duty Managers to create and implement contingency plans in the event of operation disruptions.
- Conduct daily operational meetings to review plans for the daily load/offload of aircraft and to advise staff of abnormal freight movements/special handling.
- Ensure all basic procedures specific to the station’s environment are in place and followed consistently.
- Prepare and communicate daily reports for CMC and Senior Management as required, including reasons for delays, etc.
- Assist all customers when required in order to maintain the company’s customer service standards.
- Manage all contract suppliers and audit when required.
- Ensure training and compliance with respect to all Cargojet policies and Canada Labour Code requirements.
- Ensure compliance to local Airport Authority rules and regulations, especially in the area security. Maintain and train staff in the importance of our partnership in the PLSP Program (Primary Security Line Partner) Tenant Security Plan.
- Manage and oversee the hiring and termination of all staff and compliance with all Human Resources policies and procedures.
- Operate within station budget parameters.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and/or related aviation experience in a management role.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- Must possess a successful history of staff management including the ability to lead, coach, motivate and facilitate staff conflict resolutions.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills are key for this position.
- Off schedule flexibility is required.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess a valid driver’s licence and have the ability to obtain a Transport Canada Airside pass (RAIC).
- The successful candidate must be able to work under minimal supervision.
- Able to develop positive, professional relationships with key customers/suppliers/airport authorities, etc.
- In-house training will be provided for WHMIS, SMS, First-aid, Weight & Balance, Dangerous Goods Acceptance and Handling, Airport Security and Health and Safety as required.
