About Kron Technologies

Kron Technologies is a high-performance, multidisciplinary hardware company that builds virtually everything in-house, from software and firmware for FPGAs and SOCs, to electronics, mechanics, and optics. We make innovative, high-speed imaging tools for demanding professionals, and we do it with a small, ambitious team of engineers who thrive on ownership and building things from the ground up.

The Role

We’re seeking a hands-on Engineering Manager who can lead with both vision and technical depth. This role is ideal for someone who is deeply curious, thrives in low-bureaucracy environments, and is excited to mentor a cross-functional team that’s building high-impact hardware products.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team to build technically excellent, high-performance products that solve real-world problems.
  • Stay technically engaged: participate in code/design/architecture reviews, solve technical challenges, and ensure high-quality output without micromanaging.
  • Guide architectural decisions for bandwidth-intensive, real-time systems involving high-speed data capture and processing in FPGAs.
  • Establish and refine engineering workflows, tools, and systems to support team productivity and scale development.
  • Clear roadblocks and help the team prioritize their work, ensuring they focus on the most impactful problems.
  • Bridge the present and the future; make sure current systems are architected to support future product features and business direction.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Sales, and Operations to translate high-level goals into clear engineering action plans.
  • Own delivery from concept to deployment, balancing fast iteration with long-term vision.
  • Attract, hire, and retain top talent while fostering a culture of autonomy, initiative, and excellence.

Who You Are

  • Have engineering team leadership experience.
  • Are technically strong in software, embedded systems, FPGA, and electronics hardware, with enough breadth to understand and guide work across all disciplines.
  • Have familiarity with mechanical design and optical systems.
  • Are a natural problem-solver who applies first-principles thinking and challenges conventional approaches.
  • Communicate well across technical and non-technical audiences and provide clear direction to keep the team aligned.
  • Thrive in a deep-stack environment where you’re bouncing between disciplines and solving novel problems every week.
  • Care about mentorship and growing talent, not just solving technical puzzles.
  • Are motivated by impact over ego; you want to build things that matter, and you’re happy to share credit.
  • Can show evidence of exceptional ability.

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with Xilinx Zynq Ultrascale SOCs.
  • Experience with camera systems, video compression, optics, or high-performance embedded systems (e.g., oscilloscopes, thermal cameras, infotainment systems, smart TVs).
  • Previous work in a startup or growth-stage company.

Perks & Culture

  • On-site culture; collaborative and fast-paced, with access to lab space and hardware.
  • A high-autonomy team of curious, passionate engineers who love what they do.
  • A compensation range of $120-$150K + Benefits.
  • The chance to build bleeding-edge technology with a tangible, real-world impact.
