Why You’ll Love Working Here

As a key member of our hardware team, you will share the responsibility of designing, validating and testing ORBCOMM’s industrial IoT devices and sensors. The Hardware team is a multidisciplinary, multi-site team consisting of electrical design, layout, industrial engineering, and documentation that works closely with the embedded systems, product integrity, and software engineering teams.

With an onsite working schedule, you will benefit from engaging in-person collaboration with other hardware engineers and RF engineers at our Ottawa, ON office.

What You’ll Do

  • Testing and design verification:
    • Functional and parametric testing of satellite, cellular, BLE, LoRa industrial IoT products.
    • Failure root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
    • Device testing and preparation for certification.
    • Device installation and validation on real assets located in our test yard.
  • Electrical design:
    • Component evaluation.
    • PCB and schematic design review.
    • Cable design.
    • Schematic, BOM, and component documentation.
  • Full product life cycle support:
    • Providing installation and product certification support.
    • Customization of standard products for specific large projects.
    • Supporting manufacturing for new product introduction.
    • Supply chain engineering support.
Who You Are

You’re a strategic thinker with a knack for operational excellence, ready to tackle multiple priorities with agility and grace. If you have:

  • Relevant experience in a similar position.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hardware bench skills (soldering, debug, test automation).
  • Skilled with electrical test equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and strong time management skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to transportation, as occasional field testing may be required.
