We’re seeking an IT Manager to join our team! In this role, you’ll oversee IT operations in our Edmonton location while working closely with our St. John’s-based team to support IT infrastructure across the entire company. You’ll ensure Avalon’s systems, network, and infrastructure remain secure, efficient, and adaptable to meet the needs of our cutting edge technology.

What You’ll Do
- Oversee IT operations in Edmonton while collaborating with the St. John’s team to support company-wide systems and infrastructure.
- Help build and scale IT infrastructure in Edmonton, ensuring it evolves to support our growing team.
- Perform daily and regularly scheduled tasks using systems and platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Windows, Linux, Active Directory, Proxmox, FlexLM licensing tools, and other relevant technologies.
- Ensure all employees have secure, full network and system access based on their specific needs.
- Manage and maintain network and system security, including configurations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
- Work with new and niche technologies, adapting IT solutions to fit the evolving needs of Avalon’s cutting-edge innovations.
- Provide hands-on technical support, troubleshooting functionality issues and resolving system-related challenges.
- Assist with network/system design, implementation, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance and security.
- A diploma in Computer Systems and Networking or equivalent education and experience, with a strong foundation in IT systems, security, and troubleshooting.
- A proactive, self-starting mindset with a proven ability to take initiative, anticipate challenges, and find solutions before they become problems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to think quickly and adapt IT solutions to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving technology environment.
- Experience in a fast-paced tech setting, ideally in a startup, where shifting priorities and problem-solving are part of daily operations is an asset.
- A strong sense of ownership and responsibility, ensuring systems run smoothly and securely while providing the team with the support they need.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work independently while staying connected with remote teams, sharing knowledge, and offering support when needed.
- A flexible and adaptable mindset, ready to take on a variety of IT challenges, even beyond traditional responsibilities, to help the team succeed.
