ABOUT THE ROLE

World Renew has two Executive Directors who lead World Renew globally and based bi-nationally (Canada/USA) to fulfill its mission. The Executive Director, Canada will be a key driver of the organization's success. You will collaborate closely with the existing Co-Director, ensuring operational excellence, strategic vision, and financial stewardship. This is a leadership role that demands both vision and execution, where you will inspire teams, build relationships, and represent the organization with passion and integrity.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Strategic Alignment & Accountability

  • Co-lead the development and implementation of World Renew’s strategic vision in alignment with board directives and global priorities.
  • Provide direction across programs and systems, ensuring decisions align with the organization’s impact framework and resource capacity.
  • Maintain global accountability for outcomes and lead strategic planning processes.
  • Champion innovation and best practices in international development and relief while supporting the impact, effectiveness and integrity of global programs.


Collaborative Leadership & Organizational

  • HealthTogether with the US Co-Director, manage organizational risk through the development and implementation of strategic risk plans and protocols in compliance with national/international standards and regulations.
  • Ensure operational effectiveness, and promote a supportive, professional, and Christian organizational culture.
  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight to core organizational functions--such as HR, Finance, IT, and Communications—through direct supervision of chief officers, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission, values, and long-term goals.


Governance & Board Relations

  • Serve as a key liaison to the national and bi-national boards, ensuring timely, transparent reporting and acting on board decisions.
  • Maintain a strong board-staff partnership to uphold the mission of seeking justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.
  • Report regularly on strategic, operational, and financial performance in alignment with established metrics to align the end policies.


Networking & Fundraising

  • Collaboratively build and sustain relationships with strategic partners, donors, churches, and networks to increase the profile and reputation, as well as advance the mission and financial sustainability of World Renew.
  • Represent the organization in denominational and inter-agency forums as needed.


Team Leadership

  • Inspire and promote high-performing regional, disaster response, and functional teams jointly with the existing Co-Director.
  • Co-lead and support the Global Executive Team, including the Chief Philanthropy & Marketing Officer, Chief Program & Impact Officer, Chief Financial & Investment Officer, Chief People & Culture Officer, and Chief Operations Officer by fostering strategic alignment, driving organizational performance, and ensuring cohesive leadership across all functions. Strengthen the bond between World Renew Canada, US, and in-country regions as one unified entity.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Master’s Degree with specialization in a discipline related to the ministries of World Renew.
  • Minimum 10 years of senior executive leadership experience in non-profit, with a preference for humanitarian, international development and/or disaster response settings. Experience in diaconal or other church work or community mobilization is a definite asset.
  • Strong financial acumen demonstrating exceptional stewardship and transparency.
  • Outstanding ability to cultivate relationships with individual donors, foundations, and government funders.
  • A track record in fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.
  • Deep understanding of strategic planning, organizational culture, and governance models, preferably the Carver Model.
  • Experience working with Boards of Directors and multi-country teams.
  • Excellent personal and organizational communication skills – presenting, reinforcing key organizational messages, motivating, connecting and influencing.
  • Strong administrative, organizational and leadership skills, setting clear and measurable expectations for teams.
  • Ability to ensure regulatory compliance across international borders.
  • Extensive experience working with field programming teams and deep appreciation of the importance of understanding and respecting local context. Understanding of development models that help without hurting while shifting power and decolonizing the work.
  • Overseas field experience is ideal but not required; a willingness to learn and engage with field work is essential.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and support of the Reformed Christian faith and values of World Renew.
