The Senior Site Reliability Specialist (SRS) is a specialized role within the field of software engineering that focuses on maintaining highly reliable and scalable software systems. SRSs proactively manage the ecosystem of the applications and services, ensure the application operate smoothly and reliably with excellent user experience. This is a temporary position with the potential to transition into a full time role based on performance and business needs.

The Senior Site Reliability Specialist (SRS) is a specialized role within the field of software engineering that focuses on maintaining highly reliable and scalable software systems. SRSs proactively manage the ecosystem of the applications and services, ensure the application operate smoothly and reliably with excellent user experience. This is a temporary position with the potential to transition into a full time role based on performance and business needs.
How You Will Create Impact
- Work with infrastructure teams to implement system upgrades and enhancements to ensure system currency.
- Work with security teams to implement best practices, ensure data privacy, and comply with industry standards and regulations.
- Design automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks, deployments, and infrastructure management.
- Champion in implementing best practices and improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
- Plan and implement strategies to scale systems to handle increasing/decreasing user loads and traffic.
- Provide guidance to team members on root cause analysis and solutioning, including fixing root causes and enhancing application reliabilities.
- Prevent future occurrences of incidents by fixing root causes and refactoring the application to make it more robust.
- Build effective monitor and alerts to discover errors.
- Create incident responding plans to minimize negative impacts resulted from future incidents.
- You have an innovative mindset to improve operational efficiencies and ability to influence change, with a primary focus on client needs.
- You use critical thinking skills to recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, draw conclusions and proactively propose solutions.
- You have strong communication skills to clearly convey messages and explore diverse points of view.
- You build trusting relationships and provide guidance to support the development of colleagues.
- You have five years of experience in Information Technology or a related field.
- You have completed post-secondary education in Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Strong background in software Engineering, with proficiency in one or more programming languages and application design knowledge.
- Experience in system administration and managing production environments.
- Proficiency in creating alerts, response plans and analysis plans with monitoring and logging tools.
- Proficiency in using multiple tools and techniques in problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
- Understanding of networking protocols and security principles.
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms and infrastructure-as-code tools as an asset.
- Azure experience or certification is an asset.
- Azure Microsoft DevOps Specialist certification is an asset.
- You will be required to work on a rotational on-call schedule
- Extended work hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required.
- You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
