We act as a catalyst for Co-operators by delivering innovative and impactful programs that create value and drive change in our communities and are committed to making a difference by acting as a strategic, collaborative and passionate leader in the Financial Services industry.

The Sustainability and Citizenship Consultant role supports management in identification and stewardship of programming and partnerships, both internal and external, for meaningful social impact and effective storytelling as a purpose-driven co-operative.

How You Will Create Impact

  • Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with community organizations and internal partners in support of Co-operators social impact framework.
  • Supports planning and coordination of internal Citizenship-related partnerships and initiatives across the organization.
  • Engages employees across the organization through community initiatives, volunteering, and employee-led committees.
  • Evaluates the impact and effectiveness of programs and partnerships to assess progress towards business goals and desired social impact.
  • Coordinates community giving-related data collection and reporting for Co-operators Integrated Annual Report and external certifications, such as the Imagine Canada Caring Company designation.
  • Conducts research, scans best practices and trends in the social impact sector, and engages partners in strategic learning to support program and partnership development.
  • Supports AVP, Citizenship in communicating about Citizenship programs, priorities and impact to external and internal audiences (social media, clients, staff, members, senior leadership team, Board of Directors and management across the group of companies).
  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency of Citizenship work processes.
  • Contributes to the development of annual department plans towards achievement of department objectives and standards.

To Join Our Team

  • University degree in business, non-profit management, sustainability or other relevant Social Sciences.
  • 3-5 years of experience in social impact, non-profit management, charities, program and partnership development.
  • Solid partnership-building skills and ability to build strong working relationships, trust and confidence with internal and external partners.
  • Strong organizational and management skills including planning, scheduling, budgeting, decision making and problem solving.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of the social impact sector in Canada (non-profits, charities).
  • Solid knowledge of co-operative philosophy, values and sector.
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to the community and active volunteerism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
